THE STORY OF A GREAT LOVE
The slow, steady passage of time is what really drives the work at Cusiritati, where it is tradition that rules life, alongside the creation of the essential daily spirit. Over its fifty years of life, Cusiritati has settled into being an evocative, fascinating place, without parallel, preserving its integrity by careful and refined choices, aimed at staying as faithful as possible to the initial notion of Pino and Amelia, passing on their love for these places to their family, their love of a happy home kitchen, and making hospitality a distinctive feature to create a magnetic attraction for the visitor.
The legacy first passed to the daughter-in-law Marilena, who still guides the magical world of taste, and is the boss in the kitchen, structured and organised on the basis of her ideas about catering. The next to benefit is Federica, who as the youngest has spent her whole life in the family restaurant. Her happiest memories, like those of her sister Sabrina, the “baby” of the family with a passion for wines, cocktails and spirits, have been spent in the restaurant.

In this place, which is more than a simple restaurant, guests and friends, wayfarers changing over the decades, children who used to come to Cusiritati, all return as adults with their own children, still finding the restaurant a place of real, total pleasure, enjoying times of wellbeing, and a kitchen which arouses memories and offers prospects which stretch ahead, like the setting sun. And this is when guests can enjoy their aperitif on the terrace, a period reserved only to those who have pre-booked dinner. This is why the Cusiritati restaurant in Panarea is an enchanting place, of pleasure for the palate, of essential flavour and substance for those who wish to wander and to be cradled by the sea, listening to the lapping of the waves, and forgetting everywhere else but the heart of Panarea!
Federica, Sabrina, Marilena
As you cross the magic threshold of the Cusiritati restaurant in Panarea, Federica is the first person you meet. It is she who steers Cusiritati with her sister Sabrina, along with mum Marilena, hardly twenty years older than her. Obviously, not forgetting the moment you encounter grandmama Amelia, who is the beacon guiding the choices made, and whose recipes stay in the mind, such as the caper salad vinaigrette, always considered a must, so unusual and special is it, sometimes even offered as a welcoming dish for the guests wanting to explore the house kitchen. It is an unrepeatable, unique dish of its kind!
Federica, eldest child of Marilena, is the host at the Cusiritati restaurant, who welcomes you and guides you to your table, attending to you constantly. She succeeds in realising even your unstated wishes, from the first telephone call for info or booking, with her long experience in the business. A generous host, one of the most important qualities in the restaurant world, giving guests the sense that they are an integral part of a process bestowing wellbeing, pleasure, freedom and enchantment.
Sabrina is the “baby” of the house, with a passion for wines, cocktails and spirits, her world, her comfort zone where her skill stands out. As soon as the guests are seated, the timer is running for them to be served. There's nothing left to chance, as Federica points out. The times are carefully judged. Before ordering, the drinks arrive, and Sabrina appears on stage, to consider together with the guests which would be the best accompaniments, from the bottles available in the cellar. Or else, they can explore some more niche choices, which stimulate taste and imagination. The skill is in knowing what a bottle of wine represents, and the pleasure it will give, not only for the meal but also for being together.
THE CUSIRITATI FAMILY
At Cusiritati, the beating heart is essentially a female one. A handful of women built up the restaurant's identity: Amelia, Marilena, Federica and Sabrina.
Both the restaurant and kitchen teams are also mainly female, and the atmosphere is governed by the fathomless life force of nature on the island of Panarea.
